Pizza Night on the Big Green Egg {Family-Friendly Recipe}

Have a pizza night coming up? Florida lifestyle blogger, MikaelaJ, shares the best Pizza recipe on the Big Green Egg pizza stone!

I remember when I was younger my mom would set up a “pizza bar” for dinner where we would create our own pizzas on english muffin halves.  It was so fun adding the toppings and eating our unique creations. I wanted to recreate this for my own kiddos and I thought that using the Big Green Egg would be the perfect way to give our pizza night an upgrade.

You can absolutely make these in your oven or even use pre-baked crust, to save time.  We have been looking for more ways to incorporate the BGE into our weeknight meals and once you have had grilled pizzas, you will never go back.

Since this was a week night, I decided to pick up pre-made dough in the refrigerated section at my local grocery store.  After sprinkling the counter with semolina flour, I let the kids help me roll them out, add the sauce and then let them have at it with toppings.  Sometimes we have homemade sauce in the fridge, but I just picked up our favorite jarred sauce at our local Italian market. Make sure to pre-heat the BGE to 500 degrees.  We use a pizza stone to cook our pizzas and just make sure the stone is in the BGE when it is coming to temperature.

Pizza night can be such a fun activity for the family and will also be a great way to sneak veggies into your kiddos diet.  You can either sneak them into the sauce or even let them get creative with the toppings.  I have noticed that the more I incorporate the kids into preparing meals and playing a part in making dinner, they are much more likely to try different foods and textures. This night we only had pepperoni and peppers in the fridge, but most nights we will toss on tomatoes, mushrooms and broccoli.  We also love a good prosciutto and arugula pizza topped with a balsamic glaze. Yum!

After our pizzas were topped, we threw them on the Big Green Egg pizza stone for about 5 minutes each.  This will obviously change depending on the thickness of your crust, so definitely keep your eye on them!

Carefully remove the pizzas when they are cooked (we used a pizza peel), slice and enjoy!
