Family Vacation at TradeWinds Resort

For years I have heard how amazing TradeWinds Resort is for families. It is the largest beachfront resort on St. Pete Beach and basically a huge playground full of things like poolside crafts, paddle boards, floating cabanas, putt putt golf, paddle boats and their iconic 3-story waterslide. You can imagine how excited we were to be invited to stay last month! Like so many of us, we spent the past year at home and because we have a high risk daughter, it took a while before we felt comfortable to travel again. After such a tough year, we really needed a weekend away and TradeWinds was the absolute perfect way to get back out there.

We knew from the second we pulled up to TradeWinds that we were in for an amazing family vacation. The front desk staff was so helpful in getting us checked in and they went above and beyond showing the kids all of the incredible amenities the resort had to offer. We arrived well before check-in and even though our room was not quite ready, they stored our luggage and encouraged us to hurry down to the beach and enjoy our day. We couldn’t wait to throw on our swimsuits and do just that.

The beach was just as incredible as we had imagined. The water in St. Pete is crystal clear and so calm. The kids loved collecting sea shells and building sandcastles while Peter and I relaxed under the beachside cabana. After hours of beach fun, we enjoyed lunch at their poolside restaurant, Flying Bridge. After lunch, the kids could not wait to check out their crafts station. They each picked out an item to paint and the Kids Krawl staff was absolutely amazing in helping them get set-up and going. The resort has a whole list of available crafts for kids to do and this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

We got a call that our room was ready around lunchtime, but we were having so much fun that we decided to wait until later to get settled in. We stayed down at the beach all day long and enjoyed every second of fun that we could handle. Before heading up to our room, we walked over to TradeWinds sister resort, RumFish, for s’mores and to watch the sunset. It was absolutely gorgeous and the perfect ending to a wonderful day.

After spending all day playing in the sand, we were so excited to head up and get settled into our room. TradeWinds just underwent massive renovations and everything was clean, modern and very spacious. Our room was fantastic for traveling families and it included a separate living space with a full kitchen, a dining table and a pull-out couch. We loved having the option of eating meals in our room and spreading out during our stay.

The next morning we woke up early and enjoyed breakfast in our room. We opened the sliding door on the balcony and loved smelling the sea breeze as we ate our meal. Right after breakfast, we rushed downstairs to enjoy a round or two of putt putt and to feed the fish. It’s amazing how many activities TradeWinds has on-site. We tried to fit everything in, but there are so many that we will definitely have to come back again to experience them all.

Right after our morning activities, we were all back in our swimsuits and ready for more fun. We enjoyed delicious ice cream, swings on the hammock, swims in the pool and 457 slides down their beachside blow-up slide. It never got old watching the kid’s faces light up with excitement each time going down. We created some more crafts, watched Incredibles 2 while floating in the pool and ate some more delicious seafood. It was truly the most wonderful weekend and we can’t wait to get back to TradeWinds and experience even more of what they have to offer.

If you and your family are looking for an amazing vacation, I can not recommend TradeWinds Resort enough. The whole trip was full of fun activities and so many things to keep the kids busy all vacation long. The rooms are great for families and the staff is friendly and helpful.
