Tips for a better morning and evening
I know I don’t have to tell you, but being a mom is hard work. By the end of each day I am absolutely exhausted and can’t wait to settle down and have some time for myself. That is of course after the kitchen gets cleaned, the laundry gets folded and everything gets prepped for the following day 🙂
Until about 4 months ago I spent most of my days fighting exhaustion and rocking pj’s all day until I was forced to get dressed. I knew that I had to make some changes in order to be a better mom and have the energy I needed to keep up with the kiddos. Since making a few small changes, I have felt so much better and look forward to each morning. Here are some of the changes I have made and I hope some of these will help you enjoy your days too!
Evening Tips:
- Make a cup of hot herbal tea to enjoy while you get ready for bed
- Take off your jewelry {I sleep with my bracelets and rings but earrings and necklaces come off}
- Take a shower before bed {nights are always easier for me to shower because the kids are sleeping and I can actually enjoy it – I love going to bed clean and “washing off the day”}
- Lotion up
- Turn on your favorite low-key music {I love Adele}
- Light a lavender candle
- Wear cute pajamas {silly, I know, but this always makes me feel so much better}
- Turn off the TV
- Put your cell phone away
- Before you go to sleep write some thoughts about your day down and anything that is bothering you in a journal
Morning Tips: {mornings for me are a little more chaotic so I like to make an effort to wake up about 45 minutes before I think the kids will wake up so that I can have some time for myself}
- Drink a full glass of water as soon as you wake up {I like room temp with lemon}
- Wash your face and brush your teeth with an electric toothbrush {it makes such a difference when your mouth feels super clean}
- Light a candle {I love red current for the morning}
- Read an inspirational book or passage {I am reading The Secret right now and loving it}
- Write down any thoughts or things that you need to accomplish that day
- Turn on some music that makes you happy {Right now I am totally listening to Christmas music and loving every second of it}
- Get dressed {this was really important for me because I was getting in the habit of wearing my yoga pants or pj’s all day}
- Eat a healthy breakfast {I either make a green smoothie or have oatmeal or yogurt with some local honey}
I hope some of these tips help you find a good balance with your everyday routine. These small changes have made such a big impact in my life already! What are some of your favorite tips for ending and starting your days on a positive note?
